President’s April Message

Flowers and cars both got an early start this season. We’ve had summer like weather in late winter and winter weather at the official start of spring! Cold this morning but it is said to warm up again in a day or so. Who knew, but we could have gotten the driving season off to an earlier start this year. I did drive to the March meeting with top down on a rather warm evening and an enjoyable night drive home listening to the peepers singing all along the way.

We did hold our winter social event on March 10th under a new name, Motor Madness. We had a big turnout which included some new members and everyone had a good time catching up on the latest activities we’ve all experienced since the holidays, cruises enjoyed and cars readied for the season. Pam and Mike Dallaire decorated the hotel meeting room appropriately for a British Car Club social event. A gallery like display of British car etchings on the walls around the room. The table centerpieces each had photos of British pubs with 3D stand up photos of various members’ cars. Also in the center table displays were beautiful roses for each of the ladies to take home from the event. After enjoying a social hour followed by a delicious dinner with member friends, Dennis Sokol kicked off our traditional Yankee Swap for a little competitive fun over a few prized and well traded gifts. We thank Pam & Mike Dallaire, Donna Lynn Greene and all those involved with planning and making the event a very enjoyable evening.

We should expect a good turnout of LBCs at the Hinchcliffe garage in Lakeville for the April 21st Safety Fast Inspection. Thanks to Ken Stone’s advance media coverage, we may have LBC’s from many other clubs from around the surrounding areas. It is always good to start the driving season with confidence knowing that all is well as you take to the roads. Not to mention that it is just plain fun to check out the cars (especially someone else’s car), use some of the dated diagnostic equipment and to sample some of Paul’s special hot dogs, yummm!

The Brewster in Bloom Parade is coming up April 29th which is another early season driving opportunity. Many club members have participated over the past number of years. It is good for some members to have events in the lower Cape area close to home, but it also affords a nice drive down the scenic Old Kings Highway for many members from off Cape locations. So sign up on the events section on the home page and turn out for a fun event.

Just a couple of reminders; the April 17th regular meeting at the Sandwich BBC, and the Annual Meeting will be held at the West Wareham Elks Lodge on May 5th. We are hoping to have many members in attendance for our election of officers and BoG members. Please plan on attending. The lodge has a generous parking lot, so put the top down and enjoy the drive.

All of these events and more can be found on our web site under “Events” on the Home Page. Just by clicking on the listed event, you can read the details about the event and register to attend right there on the site. What could be easier?

I encourage you to do so and we are looking forward to seeing you at these upcoming club events.

Till then,

Bill Scott
