Buy a Brand New MGB

As I toured a classic car show in Stewart, Florida the other day, one particularly pristine MGB caught my eye. Closer scrutiny provided the reasons. Frontline Developments in England makes made-to-order MGB’s starting with an original or a heritage (new but from the original molds) shell and filling it with new components. Using mostly Mazda power plant and driveline, these B’s are a LOT of muscle in a deceptively small package. 304 HP through a six speed gearbox leads to a top speed of 165 MPH and a zero-to-60 time of 3.8 seconds. Knowing how the little cars make 50 MPH feel like you are flying, I just can’t imagine the thrill these cars must provide. The display card for the show car said there were only four of these cars in the US. I did a little web searching and found out why, prices start at $117,000.00. My mostly rebuilt ’67 B has set me back a grand total of $3000 and provides miles of smiles without the second mortgage. Still, if you’ve got to have one, here’s the link, and the pictures.
