Our traditional November weekend getaway is on track to return, by overwhelming demand, to Martha's Vineyard the weekend of November 5-6 2011.  We will be staying again at one of the island's premier resort hotels, the Harbor View Hotel & Resort in Edgartown and overlooking Edgartown Light.

The CCBCC hotel rate will be $109 per night, plus tax, which is the same as we paid in 2009.  Contact Marcie (a Falmouth resident) at 508-627-7000 or 800-225-6005 and mention the club's name to make your reservations.

Some folks will plan to go out on Friday, but most of us will, by tradition, meet at Betsy's Diner on Maine Street in Falmouth around 7:30-8:00AM Saturday morning, leaving the restaurant about 8:45AM for a scenic trip along Vineyard Sound to the ferry terminal in Woods Hole.  The ferry schedule has not been published for November yet, but typically there will be a ferry at 9:30AM.  We will keep you updated on the schedule.  You should try to make your ferry reservations for your car by August. 508-477-8600.

Please let me know if you plan to attend.  I need to keep the hotel apprised of how many members we expect as we get closer to the date.

The plan will be to exit the ferry in Vineyard Haven at about 10:15AM on November 5 and travel in convoy - as best we can through the chaos - to the Tashmoo Overlook on State Road where we will meet any MV members and members who went out to the island on Friday.  From there we will convoy through roads that will remind you of Vermont, passing though Menemsha and arriving at Gay Head Light around 11:30.  We will return on a different route along the water to Oak Bluffs, where we will have lunch and a walking tour of the village.  After lunch, we will convoy over to Edgartown, where we will check in to our hotel. Folks are then on their own for shopping, napping or pub crawl.  Usually, one or more members will volunteer to coordinate a group dinner.  I will be the guide during the day and a participant in dinner.

Sunday, we will have brochures of interesting places to drive on your own or with groups.  I will be guiding those who wish to go for a hike in Menemsha Woods, including the highest point on the Cape & Islands, Prospect Hill.  Generally, people will leave mid afternoon on Sunday, but that is an individual decision.

Any questions?  Call me by phone (508-457-9199) or email - briannick444@verizon.net.  Hope you will plan to join us.
